Ernestine & Hazel's

Photos of Ernestine & Hazel's in Memphis, Tn. This old sundry store was an after hours bar and brothel from the 1930's to the 1970's. This building is notoriously haunted by approx 7-12 different spirits. Drugs, murder, suicide, prostitution, and everything that encompasses crime (not to mention good times) are all the perfect recipe for a really good haunting. Ray Charles used to have a room there, Elvis was arrested right outside the front doors, Otis Redding was caught peddling drugs there, Issac Hayes was a frequent patron, Staxx was once the bars house band, James Brown, Sean Penn, Mick Jagger have all frequented the joint. In fact Mick Jagger wrote the song "Brown Sugar" about his experiences at Ernestine & Hazel's. It's by far my favorite place in Memphis. And the Soul Burger is world famous! It's the best burger ever!
